The purpose of our thesis was to synthesize new types of fragrances, namely geraniol, 3-phenyl-1-propanol, thymol and a set of acid and acid chlorides. We were interested in the appearance of new fragrances and how the olfactory properties of these newly synthesized esters differed from fragrant alcohols and carboxylic acids, which they were made of. New esters were physically, chemically and spectroscopically characterized and fragrances will be compared to alcohols and acids or their acid chlorides.
