The thermal conductivity and other thermal properties of steel are important in its use and in the planning and execution of its heat treatment. As part of the thesis, we measured or determined the thermal properties of AISI 316L steel (thermal conductivity, specific heat and temperature conductivity), produced in the production facilities of the largest Slovenian steel producer, with a special emphasis on its thermal conductivity in the so-called delivered condition of the steel and after heat treatment, which includes solution annealing and quenching in water. We performed measurements, analysis and evaluation of thermal properties on the device for determining the thermal properties of Hot Disk TPS 2200 in accordance with the ISO 22007-2 standard at ambient temperature. Average values of thermal conductivity of steel 316L in the so-called in the delivered state it is 13.85 W/(m·K), but after heat treatment it is about 0.2 W/(m·K) higher and amounts to 14.04 W/(m·K)
