In my dissertation, I focused on the mental health of students at the Faculty of Social Work who are part of Generation Z. Generation Z is the first generation to grow up in a world full of innovative modern technology and various technological gadgets that have changed our daily lives and thereby also influencing the experience and interpretation of life around us. In my dissertation, I researched issues related to the mental health of this generation, the use of information technology and where students find support and sources of strength to help them overcome mental distress. My research is quantitative, exploratory, and empirical. The results showed that students can largely identify with the characteristics of this generation, that they sought help from various professionals in experiencing mental distress and that they find their sources of strength in their friends, family and in the nature. Most of the interviewed persons have faced or are facing anxiety and the vast majority believe that mental distress and their confrontation at the Faculty of Social Work should be discussed more in the set curriculum.
