The master's thesis examines Janez Šubic and his connections with Czech Art through the collaboration of Janez Šubic and Vojtěch Hynais from their first meeting in Venice in 1874 to Šubic's departure for Kaiserslautern in 1884, when their contacts ended. Insight into their collaboration is based on correspondence research, particularly of the Šubic family and related artists (Janez Wolf, Anselm Feuerbach, Josef Václav Myslbek), as well as the studies of older researchers (France Mesesnel and František Žákavec) and recent research (Maruša Gantar and Marie Mžyková). The central part of the thesis is a presentation of the work and similarities in approaches of both painters in Italy, as well as their work in Prague with the National Theater painting project.
