In the first half of the 20th century, synthetic polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) adhesives started to substitute natural adhesives in the furniture industry, because they had good performance, they were cheap and easy to use. PVAc adhesives consist of polymer polyvinyl acetate and different additives. They are thermoplastic adhesives for non-structural applications.
