The master's thesis is an analysis of recorded texts of spontaneous speech by speakers of the dialect of Zagorje and Trbovlje, which is used to determine eminent characteristics of the spoken language at four levels: the level of speech act theory, discourse analysis, syntax and lexis, all of which are used in the thesis to study role switching, simultaneous speech, text cohesion and word order, paradigmatic and syntagmatic axes, false starts, self-correction, gaps, pauses, repetitions, ellipsis, the linking word k(u), speech signals, marked lexis and pro-forms. There are not two different grammar books of Slovene, one for spoken and one for written language, between which we could draw a line, and spoken language has started to enter the level of written language via electronic messages.
