The master thesis deals with syntactic idioms and examines the strategies used to translate them from Russian into Spanish and vice versa. Syntactic idioms are a group of phraseological units used in colloquial language and characterised by a fixed model containing fixed and non-fixed elements. The fixed part usually consists of grammatical words, while the non-fixed part comprises words that are not predictable and depend on the context and the speaker's communicative intention. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the previous research and different classifications of these phraseological units in Russian and Hispanic studies. This is followed by a classification of Russian and Spanish syntactic idioms according to their meaning and a more detailed description of the group of syntactic idioms that express affirmation, agreement, negation and disagreement. The Spanish and Russian idioms of this group are compared with each other by looking for similarities at the level of form and meaning to determine which ones are equivalent. In the empirical part, selected examples from the corpus are analysed in order to find out which translation strategies are most commonly used when translating syntactic idioms from Russian into Spanish and vice versa.
