Employee motivation is an important area of management, as we promote employee satisfaction and efficiency by incorporating appropriate motivational factors. The aim of the research was to find out how to motivate employees in a specific case in a company operating in the food industry. We found out which motivational factors the management uses and to what extent. The research in the company was conducted through an interview with the management and through an online survey among the employees. We found that different motivational factors have different effects on employee motivation. The management of the selected food company is very committed to motivation, but the main obstacle is the poor financial situation and minimum wages of employees. The results of the survey show that employees in the selected company value good relationships the most, and there is also regular praise for a work well done. The most important motivating factors cited by employees were the amount of salary, a pleasant workplace, job security, interesting and responsible work, a certain degree of independence, praise and good relationships. Based on theoretical approaches and research we have developed a new model of employee motivation, based on three categories of motivational factors and an individualized approach to employee motivation.
