The thesis derives from the existing serial produced worm gear that is used in the household kitchen appliances. The existing worm wheel has a special tooth geometry, which cannot be analytically evaluated. First, we explain the existing serial worm gear in detail. After, we present the theoretical background of worm gears, basics of polymer materials, polymer gears and a guideline for polymer gear evaluation VDI 2736. Then we present KISSsoft and Ansys, which are the software we used in the worm gear analysis. The goal is to create a 3D model of the standard worm gear, which will be as much alike to the existing serial one. The newly generated standard worm gear is evaluated in KISSsoft, analytically with VDI 2736 and also with finite element method. Then, the existing serial worm gear is evaluated with finite element method. Lastly, we present and compare the results from different gear evaluation methods. Based on the results we suggest the improvements of the existing gear.
