This master's thesis compares Slovenian Catholic lyric of the second half of the 19th century and Slovenian Catholic lyric by selected authors of the first half of the 20th century. It interpretates both through the prism of the poetization of the Ineffable and related elements. The emphasis lies especially on specific symbols and metaphors that point to the Ineffable, on specifics in the field of punctuation, and above all on discovering the cataphatic and apophatic elements, through which the image of God is either revealed or obscured. The central question is in what way the selected authors of both periods deal with the poetization of the Ineffable, and for this reason the analysis is followed by a comparison of both samples on said levels.
