I started my diploma work by defining the concept of employee job satisfaction. Then followes a detailed description of the ten most important factors of job satisfaction. All companies should ensure that their employees are satisfied, because only then they will work more efficiently, which in turn will lead to the success of the company as a whole. The next area I worked on was measuring job satisfaction. I stressed of the importance of measurement and described two of the most important and well-known surveys measuring employee satisfaction (Job Satisfaction Scale, SiOK project). Finally, in the theoretical part, I have outlined the consequences of job dissatisfaction. Here, I have described the issues in more detail: absenteeism, presenteeism and fluctuation. The aim of the empirical work was to explore the level of employee satisfaction in company X, based on theory and combined with an online survey. Employees are satisfied with most of the factors, but changes would be needed in the areas of pay and stimulation. Company X should introduce better pay conditions to increase employee satisfaction, which would help improve the company´s success.
