Introduction: Cleaning and disinfection of different surfaces, equipment and accessories, if needed, is an important element of the whole strategy to reduce the transmission of the microorganisms. The efficiency of the cleaning and disinfection procedures is evaluated with the efficiency of the method used and with the suitability of processed surfaces. To ensure efficient cleaning and disinfection it is necessary to teach and train employees for a high standard cleaning. Purpose: The purpose of the Master's thesis is to analyse the performance of cleaning and disinfection procedures and to evaluate their efficiency in chosen kindergartens. Methods: The Master's thesis consists of the theoretical end the empirical part. In the theoretical part, we examined the literature of the research made in this area. The empirical part consists of qualitative and quantitative research methods. First, we analysed the plan of regular maintenance and cleaning of the rooms and the outer surfaces of the kindergarten. By conversation with the reason of explanation we wanted to check the understanding of the established plan of regular maintenance and cleaning of the rooms and the outer surfaces of the kindergarten from the part of the cleaners and professional workers. With the qualitative method of observation, we checked the way the procedures of cleaning and disinfection are performed in practice. With the quantitative method Glo germ we then examined the efficiency of the cleaning and disinfection procedures in the chosen kindergartens. Results: By conversation with the reason of explanation we discovered that the professional workers know the content of the plan of regular maintenance and cleaning of the rooms and the outer surfaces of the kindergarten. With the qualitative method of observation, we checked the answers and came to the results that they do their jobs as they had told us. With the quantitative method Glo germ we came to the results that after the training the employees in most of the cases improved the efficiency of the procedures of cleaning and disinfection and emphasized some critical places. Discussion and conclusion: Based on the size of chosen kindergartens we can conclude that the cleaning and disinfection procedures were appropriate but there is still some room for improvement. With the training of the employees we reached the improvement of the cleaning and disinfection procedures efficiency by which we refreshed and added to the knowledge of the employees about the importance of the hygiene of the buildings and processes.
