In the master's thesis we research how the education of Roma pupils during the covid-19 epidemic took place at the selected primary school. We found out how the school dealt with distance learning in the case of the Roma, what problems the teachers faced, how they solved them and who helped them with solving them. The content is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter we present the basic characteristics of intercultural education. In the following, we get to understand the legal situation of Roma in Slovenia and the most important national documents that determine education of Roma pupils. We present the most common barriers faced by Roma pupils in education and the adjustments for them. Our research field was also distance learning, that we faced during the covid-19 epidemic.
In the empirical part, the results of a qualitative research are presented, namely a case study. With the help of interviews with the principal and counselor and questionnaires with 29 teachers who teach Roma pupils at the selected primary school, we found out that the school had to find its own way in the transition to distance education and has not received any excessive state aid. The most common problem faced by teachers was the lack of interest of Roma pupils in school work. This was being most often solved by different ways of communicating with them and more individual work. The majority of Roma pupils attended classes less frequently that other pupils, and at the same time they were less successful than others.
