The purpose of this thesis is to gain a better understanding of the supply with ceramic building material in the roman city of Emona, modern day Ljubljana, Slovenia. Two sites have been selected, the first being a recently excavated tile production center at Brezovica pri Ljubljani, while the second site, located at Križanke, represents one of the more recent excavation just outside the city walls. We have performed both macroscopic and typological analysis of the ceramic building material with particular attention being given to tegulae. Through a comparative study of the two sites we aim to discover if and in what scope the production center at Brezovica supplied the city and determine the characteristics of the material at both sites.
