The following master’s thesis discusses the establishment of Slovenian parallel classes at the gymnasium in Celje. The events leading up to the origin of the so-called Celje question are presented at the beginning of this work. The peak of this issue happened in 1895, with the fall of the Austrian government. The focus of this thesis is the reaction of the German and Slovenian newspapers to the events that happened in 1895. The main question of this paper is what differences can be found among articles supporting the Slovenian standpoint of the Celje gymnasium issue on one side and the German standpoint on the other.
