The idea for the graduation thesis came about while I was doing my student work at the reception of the Golf Grad Otočec course. Many golfers mentioned the difficulty of finding their way around the course with the existing course map and after reviewing all the maps on the course many errors were found on the individual playing field maps.
The product of the graduation thesis are a map of the entire course of Golf Grad Otočec and maps of the first and seventeenth playing field. The map of the entire course is provided on a score card for orientation between the playing fields and for advertising the course on the Golf Grad Otočec website. The maps of the first and seventeenth playing field show the course of the playing field and additional elements, like different lengths and markings of certain areas of the playing field, which serve to clarify and help in the use of the map.
The main sources for the mapping were the national orthophoto and laser scanning data of Slovenia, while a supplementary source the current maps of the Golf Grad Otočec course and the official data about the course from the Golf Association of Slovenia were used. Maps were created using the OCAD software tool.
Most of the courses are built on flat terrain so terraces had to be artificially created. Natural relief diversity is therefore a feature and a great advantage of the Golf Grad Otočec course, which is why the relief is shown on the maps. The laser scan data of Slovenia is shown only in the areas of the playing fields, around them the national orthophoto is used.
