As the title suggests, the thesis describes the German expressionistic era, which took place before and during the First World War. The paper is divided into two parts and focuses primarily on the poetry and its apocalyptic tendencies. The first part contains an in-depth explanation of what German expressionism is. The second part makes use of some examples of expressionistic poems that all have the “The End of the World”-motif in common and analyses some of the main differences between them and the meaning of the abovementioned motif in the poem.
