In the thesis, I aim to analyse the novels Da me je strah? by Maruša Krese and Menuet za kitaro (na petindvajset strelov) by Vitomil Zupan. A partisan story which is pivotal in both novels is in the foreground of the analysis. Since the novels discuss a person's inner experience which always reflects external events, I observe the story through characters that allow a view of the war from different perspectives, and through mediation (representation) of speech, ie. interior monologue and dialogue, as they represent the main rhetorical modes used in both novels.
