The main purpose of the diploma thesis was to study climate change over a longer period in the coastal part of Slovenian Istria. In addition, I focused on the current climate in the coastal part of Slovenian Istria and Škofije and thus the thesis is divided into two topic sections. In the first section I focused on the current climate and obtained the data from two main meteorological stations (Portorož Beli Križ and Portorož airport) and my own meteorological station located in Škofije. I gathered weather data on temperature, precipitation, and wind speed and direction. I observed the differences in the local climate which occur on short distances due to the diversity of relief, different distances from the sea and other factors. In the second section I studied the trends of climate change over the period 1961 - 2019 based on the data obtained from the main meteorological stations located in Koper – Markovec, Portorož Beli Križ and Portorož airport. The analysis included three core variables – temperature, precipitation amount and solar radiation, which are measured at the main meteorological stations. The analysis of the data based on long-term measurements that were homogenized showed an increase in temperature for 0,34 degree Celsius/decade, a decrease in the amount of precipitation for 0,26% and an increase in solar radiation for 0,1%.
