Abstract

Title:Sensory perceptions in the intersection of art and science / (in)visible transformations of the environment
Abstract:
In the thesis, I deal with the question of aesthetic potential and the degree of expressiveness of individual sensory perceptions throughout history and in contemporary art. I understand shifts, from visual art and the object to the design of relations and experiences as a reflection of modern questions and problems which are create a growing need for different, new approaches between the professional collaboration of different arts and sciences. In the empirical part, I explore the dimensions of sound and vibration as a contemporary sculptural medium in a series of practical experiments and artistic research, which serves as a basis for the creation of a series of intermedia installations, (in)visible, as well as the conception and installation of two solo exhibitions: (in) visible landscape and Interference. Through the selection of materials and the mediation of different sensory stimuli, I build a bodily experience that opens a space for a multi layered understanding of the contemporary socio-environmental crisis. In parallel with the practical work, I am looking for the relationship between the research-experimental tendency in the process and the real conditions of work in the art system.
