In my bachelor thesis, I explore building intimacy with oneself and the tea ceremony as an aid along the way; as a way of calming down, offering space for this kind of self-exploration and connection. I researched the art of tea and its rich history, delving into the rituals and associated tea ware. The aim of this thesis was to make a simple tea set that allows routine ritual practice of drinking tea and spending time with oneself in the moment, through two complementary Chinese tea rituals - Gong fu cha and “Leaves in a bowl”. In the selected material - glass, I want to emulate calm, softness and intimacy in elegant products and thus encourage meditative contemplation and an internal retreat during the practice of the tea ceremony.
