The coronavirus epidemic has pushed the countries of the world into precarious circumstances that have required the authorities to make rapid changes and adjustments to keep society afloat. One of the novelties in this time of crisis in Slovenia was the amendment of the law governing employment relations. This diploma thesis presents the amendments to the Employment Relations Act, the opinions of the public policy actors involved, and the impact of the introduced changes on solving the problem of youth unemployment and on the issue of discrimination against older workers. In this work, I touch on the literature on public policies, analysis of public policies and public policy networks. In conclusion, I give personal thoughts and recommendations regarding such problems as unemployment of young and older workers and the future of the pension system. I used a descriptive method with the study of the acquired literature and sources and the use of the interview method. I have found that it makes sense to follow the guidelines of the European Union and to past research on the issue of an aging population, and that we need to tackle the problem of youth unemployment in a different way.
