Abstract
Empatija je ključen element v procesu zdravstvene nege, pogosto je povezana s sočutjem in izgorelostjo zaradi sočutja oziroma empatije. Obstaja več teorij o povezanosti empatije in izgorelosti. Metode dela: Uporabili bomo deskriptivno metodo dela, opravljen je bil pregled domače in tuje literature v naslednjih podatkovnih bazah: PubMed/Medline, CINAHL in COBIB.

Title:The relation between empathy and burnout of healthcare professionals : diploma work
Abstract:
Empathy is a key element in the nursing process, often associated with compassion and burnout due to compassion or empathy. There are several theories about the interconnectedness of concepts, better knowledge and research in this area can greatly help to develop interventions and guidelines for employee education. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to present the relation between empathy and burnout and to present how to improve empathy skills. Also, we will gain additional information on the concept of burnout and interventions that can prevent burnout in nurses. Methods: We used a descriptive methodology of work, a review of domestic and foreign literature in the following databases is substantiated: PubMed / Medline, CINAHL, COBIB. The age literature was limited to the period from 2012 to 2021. The analysis included 17 articles, which were evaluated by Polit and Beck, citing seven levels of hierarchy. Inclusion criteria: literature available in English and Slovenian, research included nurse, nursing asisstant and nursing students, publication after 2012, access to the full text. Results: Due to the great stress in the workplace, nurses are more aware of the occurrence of burnout, so it is necessary for managers to provide a friendly work environment, reduce time constraints and provide employees with training in burnout prevention in conjunction with empathy. Research has shown that nurses capable of high levels of compassion and empathy have reported lower burnout rates. Discussion and conclusion: Empathy and compassion are closely related to the occurrence of burnout, but those individuals who learn to maintain a professional distance are not prone to the occurrence of burnout, and there are large adaptations for the occurrence of fatigue. It is possible to use burnout prevention interventions and it would make sense to include them in the nursing education process. In addition, it would make sense to focus the development of technology on the production of tools that would help in the timely identification of signs of burnout.
