The introduction of this assignment presents the advantages and disadvantages of high pressure die casting technology. In the following part of this assignment the production process of high pressure die casting, casting machine and the casting die is presented. The most used aluminum alloys, die casting defects and the reasons for their occurrence are also described. Special attention is given to porosity, which is the most common casting defect. To be able to meet strict casting quality requirements, machine injection parameters must be set appropriately, so that casting defects such as porosity are minimized or completely removed. In the process of high pressure die casting, variations of injection parameters are always present. Variations of injection parameters are limited by limits of the technological areas of each parameter. If the return measurement of the parameter is within the technological limits, the die casting part is considered good. The assignment presents an experimental control of the correctness of the technological limits settings, of the most influential die casting machine parameters using the OVAT method. The correctness of the technological limits settings is determined with X-ray die cast part quality analysis.
