The topic of the thesis are negative emotions in idioms in Andreas Winkelmann's thriller „Die Lieferung". The aim was to answer the questions: Which negative emotions are expressed by the idioms used in the thriller and which elements of the conceptualization function can be found.
In the theoretical part of the thesis idioms and phraseology are defined. The main terms and functions of idioms are described. Emotions are defined and divided into groups, and negative emotions are listed. The relationship between emotions and idioms is described. Finally, there is a definition of thrillers, a short biography of the author and basic information about the thriller “Die Lieferung".
In the empirical part 55 idioms from the book that express negative emotions are analysed. The idioms are quoted and placed in context. The most common element is the element of physiology, which is closely related to the element of motoric, so idioms that contain these two elements are analysed. Phrases most commonly express fear and emotions associated with fear such as panic, horror and outrage. Concern and nervousness are also common.
