The introduction of IT in healthcare has been taking place gradually for several decades, also in Slovenia. Various innovations have emerged that have ultimately brought about one common solution, and that is eHealth. Slovenia officially introduced eHealth in healthcare towards the end of 2015.
The diploma thesis presents the eHealth system. The first part of the diploma thesis presents the theoretical part, which includes a presentation of the health care system in Slovenia and how the introduction of IT and ICT in Slovenian health care took place. The eHealth system is presented, including a definition of what eHealth represents and what its eHealth services are, such as eRecipe, eOrdering, CRPP. We described the historical background, advantages and disadvantages, and benefits of eHealth. We outlined the current situation in Slovenia. The zVem portal is presented, through which eHealth works. The result of the comparison of eHealth in Slovenia concerning selected other European countries is also presented.
The second set of tasks is the empirical part. This set is based on the presentation of the results of two surveys. The first survey was intended for external users (patients) and the second for healthcare professionals. Two different surveys were conducted as we wanted to obtain both aspects of users (patients and healthcare professionals). We found that the overall satisfaction of users with eHealth is high, and the system is not without errors and problems. The biggest obstacle is computer knowledge, which causes the most problems for the elderly population. Greater problems were perceived in patients, as some health professionals attended compulsory eHealth education and acquired the necessary knowledge to make it easier and more effective to use. The most frequently mentioned problem of eHealth was the failure of the system or. occasional inactivity.
