Shipowner's liability insurance is related to insurance and maritime law. These two branches have been developing complementary to each other since the very beginning and have been intertwining in some segments or parts. Marine insurance is the first known form of insurance in history and is therefore of great importance, as it has created a path for other areas of insurance law.
The thesis first presents and deals with the historical development of maritime insurance itself, and later with the elements, subjects, and its covered and outstanding covers. Moreover the thesis focuses on the shipowner, his liability and the related P&I Clubs as the central element of the diploma. Here is described the development, operation, importance and particularities of such Clubs as the main insurance companies in relations to shipowner's covered liabilities.
Lastly, the thesis ends with the answer to the research question and the summary of the thesis topic.
