The development of the Internet and new technologies has led to an increase in the use of web surveys. Today, there are a number of web survey tools that differ greatly not only in price but also in the functionalities they offer. In this diploma thesis we focus on the use of web survey tools in Slovenian companies. In the first part we gave an overview of web survey development. Then we focus on the development of web survey tools, trends in web surveys and the market for web survey tools. In the empirical part, we first conducted a telephone survey among 48 companies, based on which we obtained methodological guidelines for conducting a web survey. Contacting companies and selecting the right person in the company is quite complicated in a web survey. Based on the information from the telephone survey, we decided to conduct the web survey only in the population of all small businesses (N = 5146); 99 businesses participated, which is a response rate of almost 2%, which is common for such surveys. The online questionnaire shed light on the role of web surveys among channels for soliciting feedback in companies, the use of web surveys and web survey tools, and the functionalities of the tools. Using a hierarchical classification, we also grouped the entities by the importance and use of tools and by the channels for soliciting feedback.
