In my thesis, I will be analyzing the relationship between artificial intelligence and democracy, or more specifically whether the rise of the former has (or will have) a negative or positive effect on the latter. This research is important because of the exponential growth and ever-increasing implementation of artificial intelligence in practically all walks of social and political life, and because of its revolutionary potential, and power, it can generate. We will try to research this relationship by first presenting artificial intelligence per se, its modern manifestations in society and politics, and the concept of democracy in some of its variants and theories. From all of this and on the basis of the research question(s), we will then weigh the arguments, which we will later evaluate and synthesize. In the process of this research, we will find that artificial intelligence with its many manifestations poses a massive challenge to the future of democracy. But it can also, if used correctly, turn out to be its catalyst. We will then conclude with the thought that it is still impossible to predict the nature of the proposed relationship, but that it is neccessary that it is being intensively and pedantically researched.
