Today television plays an important role with regard to language, since it still cultivates it indirectly (standards of language use) and directly (the popularisation of language issues). The paper briefly presents TV language programmes from 1965 to the present, including the themes that were dealt with. By way of introduction, the author presents the broader historical context that dictated the need for the popularisation of language issues in the form of television "language corners".
