The diploma thesis contains an in-depth analysis of green areas near care facilities for elderly people in the Slovenian countryside. Based on the analysis, we tried to create a picture of what the actual availability and accessibility of green areas for the elderly is. With the help of web portals and the software ArcMap it shall be determined where in the municipality the location of care facilities for the elderly is located, whether the green areas next to them are in private or public ownership and what these green areas look like or how big they are. The ten examples of care facilities for the elderly categorized as remote locations outside of dense settlements were then analyzed in terms of distance to the nearest public services, e.g. shops, banks, post offices, etc., and in terms of distance to the nearest public transport (bus and train stations). The number and frequency of departures was also checked. Finally, the thesis also determined the general land use of all fifty examples of care facilites for elderly in the countryside, to check the situation regarding the fulfilment of the goals and starting points of the municipal spatial plans.
The results of analysis have shown, that in average care facilities for the elderly in Slovenian rural areas has enough green areas and those are also nicely shaped and customized for the elderly people.
We also wanted to approach the opinions of residents of care facilities for elderly people and ask them for their opinion, but this was prevented by the coronavirus pandemic (SARS-CoV-2).
