Jobs and assignments of kindergarten teacher assistants and kindergarten teacher used to be strictly separated in the past. Nowadays the job assignments are interconnected and complementary. Kindergarten teacher leads educational process and based on the annual plan guides, organizes, leads and implements learning activities and is responsible also for teacher assistant. The kindergarten teacher assistant cooperates with the teacher in organising and implementing activities and besides that, independently performs tasks related to nutrition, child care and cleanliness, and self-evaluates her work. In the thesis, we dealt with the comparison of work place and salary grades of kindergarten teachers and kindergarten teacher assistants, how it was regulated in the past and what differences remain today. With a survey for kindergarten teachers and kindergarten teacher assistants, we examined what education they have acquired, which tasks they perform collaboratively and which individually, according to the salary grade and how satisfied are they with the payment. Our final findings identify they accomplish most of their tasks collaboratively and complimenting each other, while kindergarten teacher individually works on the documentation. The second important finding is that most of the assistant teachers are not satisfied with the payment because the differences with the teachers in the salary grade in terms of responsibility and tasks are too extensive.
