In the present thesis, we are developing a test bench for the final testing of DC brushed and DC brushless electric motors. The purpose of the device is a final inspection in the production line, where all motor functionalities are checked before being placed on the market.
This work describes the importance of end of line testing, standardisation and product conformity assurance. We describe the meaning and role of the CE marking and the modules for product conformity assurance brought by the new approach.
The design of the test bench is based on the customer's requirements. The mechanical design of the test bench shall be adapted to incorporate all the given requirements and shall be built in accordance with the standardisation. Based on the requirements of the test sequences, we select the key components. One of the main requirements is the selection of an advanced load that allows reliable and accurate measurements at different motor loads.
The software is a major part of the development of the test bench. Based on the selected components and requirements, a program is built that allows the automatic execution of test sequences. A successfully developed program is supported by a suitable user interface to operate the whole device.
At the end of the development, the device is tested by running all the test sequences on the test motors and verifying the validity of the measurement results. The repeatability of the device is verified by measurement system analysis MSA.
The result of the development is a successfully built test bench for final inspection of electric motors, which is used by Kolektor Ascom.
