SUMMARY
The creation of the police Special unit within the General Police Directorate in Slovenia is
closely connected with the development of logistical support of the Slovenian Police Special
unit. The milestone also represents the agreement between the Slovenian Police and the
Slovenian Army, which amended Article 74 of the Police Tasks and Powers Act; in its fourth
paragraph the article states that police officers may and/or must, insofar as their lives or the
lives of other persons are endangered, provided that the conditions for the use of firearms are
met, also use other types of weapons in use in the Slovenian Armed Forces.
The diploma thesis aims to present a chronological overview of the development of the Special
unit of the General Police Directorate in connection with logistical support. It also provides a
more detailed description of logistical support for the operation of the Special unit today and
the training system for the use of special vehicles in the Special unit of the General Police
Directorate.
Thus, with a comprehensive analysis of the operation, training and development of logistical
support to the Special unit of the General Police Directorate, we have answered the key
questions of the diploma thesis, i.e. what is the role of logistical support in the operation of the
Special unit, the importance of training to use logistical support to Special unit and whether
logistical support serves its purpose.
