This Bachelor's Thesis describes the implementation of web map service for area of Slovenia. The goal was to design and produce a service which allows us to get a map of specific area and specific size (resolution). The implementation took place at two levels, with prototype done in the Python programming language, and the final solution in the C++ programming language. The REST service server was created with Node.js technology. An orthophoto map of Slovenia was used for serving. In the end, the difference between the prototype and the final solution was evaluated in terms of performance. With this Thesis our own cartographic service was developed, which will help in other projects that have been so far depended on public servers.
