This master’s thesis catalogues and discusses the Roman military finds with their contexts from Slovenska Road, Ljubljana. Firstly, it examines the geological and geomorphological characteristics of the Ljubljana Gates, the main reason behind the use of this area in the antiquity, and provides the basic facts about the navigable part of the Ljubljanica River. It addresses all the major historic events from the time of Late Roman Republic to the Augustan era, concerning the wider Southeastern Alpine area. Moreover, it summarises up the results of the excavations at Slovenska Road, gives an overview of the La Tène and early Roman settlement of the Ljubljana Gates and that of the military associated structures, including small and, partially, numismatic finds, from both banks of the river Ljubljanica. Based on catalogued finds, it attempts to be a part of the discussion about the early Roman activities in the outlined area.
