Abstract
Slednji so v slovenskih besedilih najpogostejši tudi v poljudno-znanstvenih in strokovnih besedilih, medtem ko v najnižjem registru prevladuje raba citatnih besed.

Title:Term-formation strategies in texts about cryptocurrencies: a comparative analysis in English, Italian, and Slovenian
Abstract:
Thanks to its relative novelty and close connection with the technology field, cryptocurrencies’ terminology is extremely varied and therefore presents an interesting analysis topic. This Master’s thesis’ aim is an analysis of term-formation strategies that occur in Slovenian and Italian texts about cryptocurrencies as well as identification of the most common ones. The English language will play an important role in this since it has, especially in fields characterized by fast developments and quick changes, a strong impact on small languages like Slovenian and Italian. The analysis of term formation strategies will be based on a set of texts of different register types: informal register, popular science texts, and academic texts which will be resulting in a more substantial analysis. All texts will be combined in three single-language corpora that will be created with a web tool Sketch Engine. The term extraction from English texts will provide a list of thirty terms on which further analysis will be based. The analysis reveals that in Slovenian texts about cryptocurrencies, the most common term-creation strategy includes translation equivalents. The latter is also most frequent in Slovenian popular science texts and the academic ones, while the most common strategy in informal texts is the use of untranslated, English words. On the contrary, the Italian texts mostly use English words, even though the translation equivalents are less frequent only by less than a percent. The use of English words is also the most frequent in all three registers of Italian texts.
