Introduction: Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects people of both sexes at all ages and most commonly affects the musculo–skeletal system. Patients describe pain as the most stressful factor. Consequences of pain leads to lower quality of life for people with rheumatoid arthritis. Occupational therapy treatment is aimed at carrying out daily activities and raising the quality of life of the person. Purpose: Main purpose of the scientific and professional literature was to determine the results of research on quality of life and the effects of occupational therapy treatments on people with rheumatoid arthritis. Methods: To review foreign and domestic scientific and professional literature, we used a descriptive method of work. Physical literature we searched in libraries, as well as through online bibliographic databases. Results: Early detection of the disease, treatments, carrying out daily activities and setting aims are the most important interventions for maintaining joints and consequently a better quality of life for people with rheumatoid arthritis. Due to the nature of disease is often necessary adaption of the environment and everyday activities. Occupational therapy follows the set goals and above all, the implementation of activities that give the patient meaning and bigger independence. The most desirable approach to occupational therapy treatment is an approach that focus on the person. Discussion and conclusion: Quality of life encompasses a wide range of factors that affects on it. People with rheumatoid arthritis often do not have a good quality of life, therefor a multidisciplinary approach is very important, which covers a wide range of knowledge and thus several ways of deal persons with rheumatoid arthritis. Good communication and cooperation between team members is important, as the occupational therapist works with the person through the whole treatment. To have a better quality of life is required to aim in improvements, maintaining and adapting everyday activities and environment and having lower stage of pain, which consequently comes to better quality of life. Good quality of life is really important for each individual.
