Due to the fast rhythm of life, we face stress more often than before. Nowadays, the challenge for us is to coordinate work and family life along with the growing demands in the workplace, which caouses us stress. The problem arises when an individual does not know how to deal with stressful situations properly or manage them, which can lead to mental and physical illnesses. The aim of this diploma work was, based on the obtained results of the analysis of the state of managing stress, to propose to the management of municipal administrations measures that would contribute to more efficient stress management in the municipal administrations of the Central Slovenia statistical region. The purpose of this diploma work was to study selected domestic and foreign literature in the field of stress and to conduct a survey among employees in the municipal administrations of the Central Slovenia statistical region. In the theoretical part of the diploma work, a descriptive method and a method of compilation were used, with the help of which the concept of stress, consequences of stress and managing stress were defined. In the empirical part of the thesis, a survey was conducted among employees in the municipal administrations of the Central Slovenia statistical region based on a survey method. The results of the survey were analyzed using statistical methods, interpreted and graphically presented. The results of the research showed that employees in the municipal administrations of the Central Slovenia region are most often under stress several times a week and that it is mostly caused by overwork at work, as well as poor information and constant lack of time due to too short deadlines. Respondents report moving away from others when they are under too much stress. Respondents believe that the management does not clearly define the task of each employee and does not give precise instructions for work, and at the same time, the flow of information (between departments) is poor. Without the awareness of people in management positions that stress negatively affects their employees, stress cannot be eliminated. Namely, no organization can completely avoid stress or get rid of it, but they can alleviate its negative consequences by organizing workshops on this topic.
