Four copper(II) coordination compounds with 2-methylbenzoic acid (= HL) anion have been synthesized. These are Cu(L)2(H2O)2 1, Cu(L)(C2H3O2)(H2O) 2, Cu(L)2(C6H6N2O)2(H2O)2 3 and Cu2(L)4(C5H6N2)(H2O) 4. Distilled water was used as a solvent. 2-Methylbenzoic acid, being added to the starting copper compounds, is bonded to the copper(II) ion as an anion. Neutral ligands nicotinamide (C6H6N2O) and 2 aminopyridine (C5H6N2) were added additionally. Each synthesis was proceeded tree times to deduce their reproducibility. The X-ray powder diffraction analysis was applied to confirm the identity of synthesized coordination compounds. Formulae of the synthesized compounds were determined with the CHN elemental analysis.
