The master's thesis discusses the literature of the Slovenian minority in Austrian Carinthia and its perception among the students of the Slovenian High School in Klagenfurt. We discuss literature in terms of the empirical literary science and systemic theory, which indicates that it presents one of the social systems functioning in correlation with other social systems and subsystems. The thesis outlines the particularities of the Slovenian literary field in the Carinthian minority (area, notion of literary periphery, ethnicity, nationality, language, ethnic origin and linguistic awareness). The focus of the thesis is on literary production, namely on the authors of literary works and their acquired role as the creators of social and cultural life, as well as on the literary perception of Slovenian literature in Carinthia among the so called new generation of the young people, more precisely in terms of literature didactics in teaching Slovenian.
