Makerspace is a place that allows patrons to try and use different equipment, devices and tools for different purposes for free. Valvasor's library Krško recognized the makerspace as a modern new service that could be offered to their patrons. With this master thesis we wish to discover strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of establishing a makerspace in Valvasor's library Krško. We also wish to recognize potential users of the makerspace and discover equipment, events and other activities, related to the makerspace, that would be interesting to them. We used different methods of data collection. Firstly, we performed an environmental analysis and SWOT analysis. We then interviewed employees from two makerspaces, already operating in Slovenian public libraries. The survey, which was conducted online and in-person, involved 238 people. We found that strengths and opportunities of setting up a »Creating Loft« are dominating. Potential users are all residents of municipalities of Krško and Kostanjevica na Krki. Interest for makerspace is recognized among all age groups. Most of them would visit the makerspace occasionally, but because of the makerspace, they would visit the library more often. The results of the survey show that potential users are most interested in activities and education in the field of photography, 3D technology, textile production and art. Through interviews we discovered that both public libraries used a similar approach when planning a makerspace and faced the problem of financing and staffing during the process.
