The diploma thesis discusses employee satisfaction in a selected department, in selected healthcare institution within which it was being determined how employees feel at their workplace, which factors affect their satisfaction and dissatisfaction at the workplace, where they see possibilities for improvement, and what type of job they have. The theoretical part examines an overview of Slovenian and foreign literature on employee satisfaction at the workplace, the concept of employee satisfaction at the workplace, and methods for measuring employee satisfaction. Factors and effects of employee satisfaction and dissatisfaction are also analyzed, as well as manners in which such satisfaction is manifested in healthcare institutions. The research part of the diploma thesis is based on conduction of research with survey questionnaires that were given to healthcare professionals at a department in the selected healthcare institution. 23 healthcare workers took part in the research, eight of which are doctors and 15 are nursing workers. Findings based on the survey questionnaire showed that the vast majority of respondents from the department are generally satisfied at the workplace. The respondents were therefore satisfied with most aspects of satisfaction, while almost everyone was dissatisfied with physical working conditions.
