The thesis deals with the philosophy and mysticism of Plotinus, Dionysius the Pseudo-Areopagite and Meister Eckhart, through which the author tries to establish a connection between the One and the living world. By presenting the basic trajectories of this philosophy, the text focuses on the causes of particularity and identity as such. The text continues with a presentation of the concept of the One, which expresses itself in the world of living things through many modes. The author also lays emphasis on the problem of evil and of demarcating existence, and shows the major effect of Plotinus´ philosophy on the evolution of philosophy as such. The thesis also emphasises the current attitude towards Plotinus´ tradition in the face of the modern scientific approach, and the need to find new ways of thought to empower us as human beings.
