In my master's thesis I will present a more detailed overview of the number of work accidents and the number of fatalities. I will check if there is a link between the number of accidents and fatalities, and the development of the country. It is important to look at every company from several safety perspective points.
Accidents at work occur every year. They usually have serious consequences for everyone affected, not just the injured, but also their family, co-workers, and bosses. An accident at work can also have significant financial consequences for the company. A well-organized workplace can help prevent accidents at work. The employer is responsible for the workplace and working conditions, and is therefore responsible for ensuring, as far as possible, that employees are not exposed to accidents or poor health.
According to data, injuries are among the most important health risks for employees, particularly men, and young male workers are especially vulnerable.. Injuries at work are significantly more common with men than with women – in part due to men working in more dangerous jobs. Improving health and safety at work plays an important role in European Community programs. A uniform methodology for monitoring data related to injuries at work and occupational diseases is being developed to monitor the achievement of results. [1]
A modern system of safety and health at work, based on promoting a culture of safety and health at work and aimed at preventing accidents at work, occupational diseases and work-related illnesses, is the cornerstone of any efficient economy. A well-organized and at all levels established system of safety and health at work, which is also supplemented by programs for the promotion of physical and mental health at work, contributes to the well-being of workers. Safer and healthier jobs contribute to economic efficiency and sustainability of welfare budgets. It is vital that work environment is created and maintained in a way that will maintain the health of workers throughout their working lives so that they can not only work longer but perform their work to their personal satisfaction.
