The idea of the Slovenian Geological Route (SGP) appeared in 1984. The first part of the route was realized between Jezersko and Jesenice, but later the author prof. dr. Stanko Buser designed a route through the whole Slovenia and wanted to connect several different geological wonders. Nowadays, several thematic trails are created, which present natural attractions. The Vače area, which is situated in the geologically interesting structure of the Posavje Folds, is a geologically diverse area with several different geological wonders, which I have connected in this research work into the proposal of the Vače geological path. The basis of the geological path was the SGP proposed path. The geological path runs mainly along the forest roads between the villages of Sp. Slivna, Vače and Klenik. It is about 5.7 km long, undemanding and therefore suitable for all generations. The path begins in Sp. Slivna at the GEOSS monument, continues along the forest path, where we observe the transition from Permo-Carboniferous clastites to Triassic carbonates. Then the path leads us through Vače, where we observe the Cretaceous breccias, the fossil sea shore, the portal of the local church made of peški limestone, geological collections and the development of the Vače area on the geological column. From the column we continue on the path towards the settlement of Klenik, where we observe Oligocene conglomerates and finally find the Middle Triassic dolomite in an abandoned quarry. The purposed path enhances the already existing thematic paths and thus represents an additional tourist offer in the Vače area. There is a great potential for science days for primary and secondary schools, where we encourage the interest in geological research and connect geology with other topics.
