In the master’s thesis, I discuss the political communication of mayors of urban municipalities in the Republic of Slovenia on their personal website, their Facebook and Twitter profile. With the help of posts on online networks, mayors establish connections with their voters, maintain their loyalty and emphasise their values. Some mayors have used certain online networks online during the campaign, while others maintain their online networks and “ongoing campaign” throughout the year. The use of websites is increasing every year. With the research, I want to find out, which online network is mostly used by mayors of urban municipalities and on which they are most active. In the master’s thesis, I find that mayors have actively used online networks only in the 2018 pre-election period, thus for the purposes of campaigning and self-promotion. After this period, the majority of them quit posting. The majority of those, who are still posting, are using Facebook, where almost all of them are still active and are posting regularly, however, a difference in the frequency of current posting and posting within the 2018 campaign is evident.
