This thesis deals with developement and manufacturing of a prototype device for towed take – off of paragliders. The device is designed as a stationary winch, powered by an internal combustion engine, automated regulation of the towing force and remote control via radiofrequency communication. During the developement main emphasis was given on safety and the cost of the project.
The thesis firstly introduces paragliding, towed take – off and existing solutions on the field of towing of paragliders. Further on it describes mechanical and electrical construction and the process of building and testing the prototype. It also describes problems I encountered during the developement phase and their solutions. Because the device is not finished yet it also describes my vision of further developement of the device.
