The development of the Internet and the growth of technological progress are changing the dimensions of media space communication on a daily basis. Digitilization has changed the functioning of traditional mass media, which had to adapt and create a digital presence on social media. In the master's thesis, we study news portals on social media as a source of information among students. We want to find out on which social media students follow news portals and how they contribute to their level of information, how often they interact through the publication of news portals on social media and what students think future trends in this area would be. In the theoretical part of the master's thesis we use the methodology of secondary analysis of articles and the empirical part is based on a case study conducted on focus groups. Through the analysis of answers that we obtained from the focus group, we find out that students follow posts of news portals on social media on a daily basis, which is also the primary and often the only source of gathering information and news.
