Abstract
Metode: Z uporabo vnaprej določenega iskalnega profila smo v podatkovni bazi PubMed poiskali raziskave, objavljene do konca aprila 2018. Iskalni profil, ki smo ga določili, je bil sledeč: fluvastatin[Text Word] AND (antioxidant[Text Word] OR antioxidative[Text Word]).

Title:
Systematic review of results of studies evaluating antioxidative properties of fluvastatin : Bachelor Study Programme Cosmetology
Abstract:
Background: Fluvastatin is a 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitor. The inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase may produce pleiotropic effects that are independent of LDL-cholesterol lowering. Pleiotropic effects of statins include antioxidant properties among others protective effects. Aim: To review the literature relating to the antioxidative properties of fluvastatin. Methods: Using pre-defined search profile in the database PubMed we retrieved all studies on the subject published by the end of April 2018. The search profile used was: fluvastatin[Text Word] AND (antioxidant[Text Word] OR antioxidative[Text Word]). The inclusion criteria included all studies about antioxidative properties of fluvastatin. We manually searched relevant studies to retrieve one additional study. Results: 8 studies fulfilled all inclusion and exclusion criteria. Majority of studies confirmed antioxidative activity of fluvastatin. On the basis of the results, it was concluded that the antioxidative activity of fluvastatin and its metabolites is independent from the inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase.
